For busy families, Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers are often the number one choice when it comes to selecting a dog. Of course they are different breeds, but often times they have similar behavioral characteristics. Beyond the Dog can help achieve puppy training and dog training goals such that owners have the best experience possible with their Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever. And, of course, we take each individual and their characteristics into consideration. Afterall, no two dogs are identical!
For Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever puppy training, one of the first behaviors we begin training is an appropriate greeting. It is our goal that the social butterfly of the dog world greet others with self control so that they can be enjoyed by all. In addition to appropriate greetings, we teach the highly social breed(s) positive ways to get the much desired attention they seek. We also focus much of our training on teaching appropriate toy play to begin to reduce any puppy biting or chewing. This helps to support a mutually beneficial relationship between all family members regardless of their age or species! For puppies and adult dogs alike, we not only teach high level puppy obedience/dog obedience, we teach puppies that a tennis ball or the like is worth working for! This significantly reduces the need to constantly use food and achieves levels of obedience that can not be achieved with pain or force—not to mention a huge boost to a healthy relationship with your Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever!
